A message to the Counterfeit….

“Not every soul who calls out to Me with urgency and repetition, saying, “Master, Master,” will be granted entry into the reign and dominion of My Father’s dwelling above; but only the one whose life is in unbroken alignment with the will, desire, and order of My Father, who sits enthroned in the highest heavens, shall enter. For in that appointed and irreversible day, many — multitudes beyond counting — will come before Me and say, “Master, Master, was it not by the weight of Your authority and the seal of Your Name that we spoke forth what we declared to be prophecy? Was it not by the power of Your Name that we drove out spirits of darkness? Was it not by the might of Your Name that we worked wonders and displayed many acts of power?” Then I will speak plainly and without veil to them, saying, “At no moment in all of time did I know you in covenant or recognize you as Mine. Remove yourselves from My presence, for you are those who have built your works and your worship outside the boundaries of My Father’s law and order, crafting an idolatrous substitute and offering it as if it were the truth.”
This is not the cry to pagans who denied His existence. This is not the rebuke to those who lived in blatant rebellion without ever pretending allegiance. These words are spoken directly to those who wore His Name publicly, performed works in His Name, and called upon Him often — yet who will be shut out of His Kingdom because their identity and works were grounded in a counterfeit system. It is the verdict not against irreligion, but against the most dangerous form of religion — the one that wears His robe while serving another master.
From the moment the faith of the early followers of Yehoshua was absorbed into the machinery of Rome, the system of substitution began. The Council of Nicaea in 325 AD, under Constantine, severed the faith from its Hebraic covenantal roots, replacing the appointed times, feasts, and order of the Father with imperial edicts and Greco-Roman festivals. The language of Scripture was moved from the tongue in which it was given into the tongue of the empire, not as translation for understanding, but as transformation for control. The Name given by Gabriel, Yehoshua — containing the covenant declaration of Yahweh’s salvation — was transmuted into Iēsous, then Latinized into Iesus, and finally Anglicized into Jesus. Each stage stripped away prophetic meaning, syllabic covenant structure, and Hebraic identity. This was the yeast added to the unleavened bread — a man-made inflation that changed the essence of the loaf.
The Scriptures speak clearly against such replacement. Jeremiah 23:27 (NASB) records the Lord’s indictment: “Who intend to make My people forget My name by their dreams which they relate to one another, just as their fathers forgot My name because of Baal.” Here we see the ancient pattern — the substitution of the true Name with a more culturally acceptable form, causing generations to serve God in name but Baal in function. Amos 5:21–23 (NASB) has Yahweh saying, “I hate, I reject your festivals, nor do I delight in your solemn assemblies… I will not even listen to the sound of your harps.” This is divine rejection of worship systems that retain His title but are disconnected from His order.
The Messiah’s warning in Matthew 7 aligns with Ezekiel 14:7–8 (NASB), where the Lord declares: “For anyone of the house of Israel or of the immigrants who reside in Israel who separates himself from Me, sets up his idols in his heart, puts in front of his face the stumbling block of his wrongdoing, and then comes to the prophet to request something of Me for himself, I the Lord will be brought to answer him Myself. And I will set My face against that person and make him a sign and a proverb, and I will eliminate him from among My people.” The parallel is unmistakable — calling upon the Lord while harboring idolatry results in divine rejection.
The yeast in this case is the system itself: the Greco-Roman Catholic institution that rebranded the faith and claimed ownership of the Name. Out of that root grew the trunk of Christianity as an empire faith, with Protestantism as branches that never separated from the genetic code of their mother tree. The leaves are the denominations and movements that continue to feed from that trunk, each declaring their particular version of truth while still living under the canopy of the same counterfeit. The fruit is the billions who now profess to be Christian — convinced their confession and works secure them — yet standing in danger of hearing “I never knew you” because their seal is not the imprint of the King’s covenant but the stamp of a man-made order.
We come to this conclusion not from conjecture but from a pattern consistent in Scripture and history. In the days of Jeroboam, the kingdom of Israel was led into idolatry not by the abandonment of Yahweh’s Name, but by the substitution of His ordained worship with a politically convenient system (1 Kings 12:28–33 NASB). In Yeshayahu’s prophecy, Yahweh accuses the people of drawing near with their lips while their hearts are far from Him, and their reverence consists of tradition taught by men (Isaiah 29:13 NASB). In Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians, he warns of “another Jesus whom we did not preach” and “a different gospel” (2 Corinthians 11:4 NASB), proving that substitution was already at work in the first century.
Therefore, when Yehoshua says, “Depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness,” we must read it in the prophetic frame He intended. In the Hebraic understanding, lawlessness (ἀνομία) is not simply breaking commands; it is the rejection of God’s covenant order in favor of a human or foreign system. It is idolatry in the most deceptive form — offering the work of human hands and minds as if it were the work of God, while still invoking His Name for legitimacy. This is why Matthew 7:21–23 is not merely about hypocrites; it is about the religious faithful of a counterfeit order.
The root of the problem is the imperial hijacking of the faith — the moment the living Way was grafted into the dying rootstock of Rome’s power structure. The trunk of the problem is the fully grown institution of Christianity, both Catholic and Protestant, which continues to operate from that original graft. The branches of the problem are the countless denominations, movements, and ministries that inherit the DNA of that trunk, no matter their apparent diversity. The leaves of the problem are the outward signs — titles, creeds, festivals, and rituals — that signal life but do not guarantee it. And the fruit of the problem is the generation of believers whose identity, language, and worship are sourced from this counterfeit tree, who will present their works before the King and be found without the seal of His covenant.
In the end, the entire counterfeit tree will be cut down. As Yahweh has spoken in Matthew 15:13 (NASB), “Every plant which My heavenly Father did not plant will be uprooted.” The root will be burned, the trunk reduced to ash, the branches severed, the leaves scattered, and the fruit discarded. Only the true planting of the Father — the New Creation, sealed in the pure Name of Yehoshua and walking in the will of the Father — will remain to inherit the Kingdom that cannot be shaken. On that day, Matthew 7:21–23 will not be a mystery but a memory, the divine insight fulfilled before the eyes of heaven and earth. Make no mistake, idolatry is of the devil. He invented it. He was the first to practice it in himself. He is the god of replacement. He is the god of substitution. He is the god of the counterfeit.
