For centuries, people who barely understand scripture have been flinging Bible verses around like confetti, convinced they’ve won the theological debate before it even starts. And when it comes to condemning LGBTQ people, their weapon of choice is usually some combination of Leviticus, Paul’s letters, and a whole lot of misplaced self-righteousness.

There’s just one problem: their entire argument is built on mistranslation, revisionism, and utter ignorance.

Let’s start with the most embarrassing fact of all—the word homosexual did not exist in the Bible until 1946. That’s right. The supposedly clear and eternal condemnation was completely absent for 3,346 years until a handful of scholars decided to play editor with scripture.

But hey, why rely on ancient texts and divine inspiration when you can just make stuff up, right

Now let’s rip apart their favorite arguments one by one.

Leviticus: The Contract That Never Included You

If Leviticus 18:22 had a fan club, the members would be the people who have never bothered to read literally any other part of the Bible. They quote it like it’s the final word on LGBTQ existence, conveniently ignoring that Levitical law was a covenant with ancient Israel—exclusive, time-bound, and fulfilled by Jesus Christ.

That means when someone tries to use Leviticus to condemn LGBTQ people, they are digging up a contract that has expired, ignoring Christ’s fulfillment of the law, and—best of all—cursing themselves in the process.

Yes, really. Galatians 3:10 is very clear. If you try to enforce the law, you are bound by all of it. That means if you’ve ever eaten shrimp, worn blended fabrics, or trimmed your beard, congratulations—you’re guilty.

So either they need to stop misusing Leviticus or go ahead and put themselves under the same curse they so eagerly place on others.

Paul’s Writings: The Words That Weren’t There

Ah, Paul. The go-to apostle for people who love condemning others but mysteriously ignore his messages about grace, love, and humility. Modern Bibles slap homosexual into Corinthians, Timothy, and Romans, but let’s address the elephant in the room.

Paul never wrote that word.

Instead, he used two Greek words that got butchered by scholars who apparently thought they knew better than the Holy Spirit.

The first word: malakoi, which literally means soft or effeminate. It was used to describe men who were considered weak, passive, or overly indulgent—sometimes referring to male prostitutes, but never explicitly condemning same-sex relationships.

The second word: arsenokoitai, a term combining arsen (male) and koite (bed). Sounds straightforward, right Wrong. Scholars still debate its meaning, but many argue it refers to exploitative sexual relationships, possibly tied to abuse, coercion, or economic oppression. It does not condemn loving, consensual same-sex relationships.

So where did the term homosexual come from? A group of German scholars in the 1868 invented the word, and by 1946, it was jammed into the Bible where it never belonged.

That means every single person parroting these verses as proof of condemnation is clutching a man-made mistranslation like it’s divine truth.

If the Bible didn’t need homosexual for 3,346 years, it doesn’t need it now.

Science and Lived Experience: The Facts Bigots Can’t Stand

Let’s make one thing painfully clear. Homosexuality is not a choice.

Science and lived experience have proven—empirically, undeniably—that sexual orientation is biological. A person does not choose their identity any more than they choose their skin color, race, or eye color.

Saying being gay is a choice is just as ridiculous as saying being Black is a choice. It’s ignorant, it’s disproven, and it shows an embarrassing lack of understanding about how basic human biology works.

And yet, the people clinging to this nonsense somehow believe they’re on the right side of history.

Counterfeit Christians: The Cowards Who Hide Behind Faith

Now for the real conversation these people refuse to have with themselves.

Most of them aren’t condemning LGBTQ people because of the Bible. They’re condemning them because they’re bigots—but they don’t have the spine to admit it. So instead, they hide behind scripture, hoping it’ll do the dirty work for them.

So let’s lay it out flat.

Don’t use your counterfeit faith and delusional theology to disguise your bigotry. Be honest—you don’t hate LGBTQ people because of God. You hate them because you’re a bigot. But you lack the courage to admit it outright, so instead, you cling to mistranslated scripture you barely understand and let your ignorance masquerade as righteousness.

And here’s the kicker—Matthew 7:21-23 warns about people exactly like this. You know, the ones who loudly claim to represent Christ while trampling all over His actual teachings.

So when judgment comes, it won’t be LGBTQ people hearing, Depart from me, for I never knew you. It will be the people who twisted His word for their own hate-fueled agenda.

The Response That Ends the Argument

If someone smugly declares, The Bible clearly condemns homosexuality, here’s what you hit them with.

You mean the mistranslated Bible The one that inserted homosexual in 1946 to replace Greek words that never meant same-sex relationships The one weaponized by counterfeit Christians who are under their own curse The one altered against God’s command never to change His word

And you don’t hate LGBTQ people because of God. You hate them because you’re a coward who won’t admit you’re a bigot. If you actually read scripture instead of parroting nonsense, you’d realize you are the one condemned by the very Bible you claim to defend.
