The Great Religious Deception: Christianity as the Throne
The fundamental error that enabled the adversary’s crowning achievement was the posture shift from Covenantal Agency to Contrived Religion. Humanity was never called to construct the elaborate framework of religion; the original design was for communion, a walking of “The Way”—derekh in Hebrew, hē hodos in Greek—an identity forged in relational alignment with the Creator. This derekh was a covenantal relational agency, a lifestyle of fidelity and entrustment focused solely on direct relationship with the Deity and the Inhabited One. However, this divine path was subjected to the one-degree posture shift orchestrated by Got’ah, the Deity of this Age. This shift subtly exchanged reliance (pistis) for belief (doxa), transforming the living relationship into an institutional, imperial, institutional, academic, corporate, and politically-lobbied contrived religion—a man-made structure of control. The result was the establishment of a system that performs, where relationship transforms.
Yehoshua (Yəhôšua‘ – Yəhō-SHOO-ah) never instructed His followers to be “Christians,” but rather to follow Him, to abide in Him, to embody “The Way.” This fact was recognized by early opponents: Saul (Sha’ul – Shahl) sought permission to arrest “any belonging to tēs Hodoû, the Way” (Acts 9:2, Vaticanus/Sinaiticus, Covenantally Faithful, Minimal Copular, SVO Format).
This structure, known historically as Christendom and eventually as the institutional religion of Christianity, is the founding of Got’ah’s religion. The adversary’s career is defined by substitution masquerading as revelation, a pattern beginning in Eden where the serpent substituted words to displace obedience, and culminating here. The mechanism was the co-option of humanity itself, using man as an instrument to formalize, rigidify, and politicize the covenantal message. The adversary leveraged the imperial reflex of the Roman Empire, where the movement was not destroyed, but infiltrated and domesticated. The ecclesia (ekklēsía), the verdict-bearing governmental assembly, was replaced with the “church,” a cultural clubhouse and political apparatus. This substitution of breath with bureaucracy and Spirit with structure yielded the ultimate result: a massive, global, institutional entity founded upon the name of the Inhabited One, yet effectively steered by the adversary who sits upon its throne of religious control.
The cross was Got’ah’s boldest substitution, an attempt to exchange death for life in the killing of the Lamb, but YHWH inverted it, shattering the power of death through death. Having failed by force, the adversary succeeded by language, moving to rename the Name he could not defeat.
The centerpiece of this deception is the Powerless Counterfeit Name and of salvation, Jesus. The foundational question guiding this forensic conclusion is whether the name first presented in Exodus, a covenantal declaration of God’s nature and presence, can be sustained through linguistic, cultural, and political conquest. In the ancient Hebrew premise, a name is not a mere label but the reality itself—the living statement of essence, covenantal presence, and identity.
The True Covenant Name is Yehoshua (Yəhôšua‘ – Yəhō-SHOO-ah), the fusion of YHWH—the covenant Name of the Father—and yasha‘—to save. This Name is an ontological proclamation: YHWH is Salvation. The very audible sounds of syllables confess the union of divine presence and divine action. When the prophet Mosheh (Moe-sheh) was commanded to write a memorial, YHWH explicitly commanded that it be set in the ears of Yehoshua (Aleppo/Leningrad codices, Exodus 17:14), cementing its role as the covenantal reality mediating God’s power and presence in action. This Name is the granite of God’s oath, the plumb line against which all else is measured.
Got’ah, the god of substitution, approached that plumb line with his most patient religious work: not erasing the Name, but slowly stepping it down. The progression from Yehoshua to the counterfeit is a chain of ruptures, not translation or faithful transliteration:
Yehoshua: The original covenantal proclamation, bearing the explicit Yahu- component of the Tetragrammaton, meaning “YHWH is salvation.” It is the audible sound and embodiment of the Father’s presence and power.
Yeshua: An exilic contraction, omitting the Yahu- component, reducing the name to a generic “Salvation” or “He saves.” This is a covenantal subtraction, transforming a living proclamation into an abstract verb and reflecting a historical absence of divine agency during the exile.
Iēsous (I-ay-SOOS): The Hellenization in Greek. This was not a faithful transliteration but a compromised phonetic adaptation dictated by Greek morphological and phonetic constraints. The name Iēsous was pre-existent and used in the Septuagint over two hundred times as the only allowable Greek substitution for Yehoshua, proving it was a visual illustrative placeholder on the page—not an audible reality in Yehoshua’s time—constrained by Greek grammar and emptied of covenantal reality.
Jesus: The Latin/English orthographic mutation and substitution. The Greek Iēsous passed into Latin as Iesus and then, through the medieval development of the consonant J and the English Great Vowel Shift, finalized into the modern “Jesus” around the 16th–17th centuries. This form carries no Hebraic meaning, faithfully preserves no covenantal sound, and is fundamentally a substitute word enthroned by habit, utterly severed from Yehoshua’s covenantal fidelity. It is, by definition of these very words, NOT a “translation” (it literally doesn’t mean anything in any language), Not a “transliteration” (it is not a phonetic audible sound in any way resembling Yehoshua), it is not even remotely synonymous with the reality of Yehoshua.
The forensic conclusion is undeniable: a two-thousand-year-old proclamation of salvation cannot be anchored in a four-hundred-year-old invention. The word “Jesus” is a linguistic newborn and a Powerless Counterfeit Name. To insist otherwise is to declare that Got’ah’s substitution is justified by human negligence.
The Throne Secured by the adversary is the institution that traffics in this counterfeit. By founding his own religion and giving it a popular, institutionalized savior who bears a name that does not carry Yahweh’s signature, Got’ah sits upon the throne of human adoration and religious control. This substitute name results in powerless pulpits and powerless people because substitution cannot transmit Spirit. The name that drives out demons, raises the dead, and restores relationship is Yehoshua (Yəhôšua‘), and only Yehoshua saves. To call upon the substitute is to participate in the long con of the god of substitution.
The tragedy is that those who call upon the substitute are tragically confident, yet they possess a parachute crafted by the counterfeit, not the King. The judgment upon the religious machine is simple: He who is not with the Son as the Son named Himself is against Him, even if his choir swells and his steeple gleams at dusk.
